Dr. Lee Wimberly

Physician

Dr. Lee Thomas Wimberly, M.D., is a board-certified internist based in Birmingham, Alabama, with over 25 years of experience in internal medicine and hospital medicine. Dr. Wimberly earned his B.A. cum laude from Samford University. He received his M.D. from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1997, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the Baptist Health System (BHS) program from 1997 to 2000, where he later served as Chief Medical Resident and Instructor.

His career has focused on hospitalist care and medical directorships, particularly in post-acute, rehabilitation, and long-term care settings. Since September 2005, he has served as a hospitalist with Eastern Hospital Medicine at Ascension St. Vincent’s East (formerly St. Vincent’s East) in Birmingham. He also holds numerous Medical Director roles in multiple nursing homes, which allows him to understand the operational and clinical perspectives of a long term care setting.

Earlier positions include Medical Director for the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation (2008–2014), Director of the Alabama Heart Failure Project (2000–2006), and various hospitalist roles at facilities like Brookwood Medical Center, Randolph Medical Center, and Troy Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Wimberly is board-certified in internal medicine. He is actively involved in quality assurance, pneumonia projects, and inpatient care throughout his career. He views his practice as a ministry guided by faith and has been recognized for bringing hospitalist expertise to senior living and rehabilitation communities in the long term care settings. He is very passionate about the respiratory therapy program he is bringing to his residents and looking forward to supporting other Medical Directors.

Jennifer Low-Pope, MBA, NHA, is a dedicated and accomplished Nursing Home Administrator with 16 years of exemplary leadership in long-term care. Her Bachelor’s in Healthcare Administration and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) provide a powerful foundation for driving clinical excellence and operational success.

Recognized as an AHCA/NCAL Future Leader, recipient of the Bronze Quality Award, and current Preceptor for future Administrators in Training, Jennifer’s firsthand experience equips her to champion higher-quality respiratory and overall care in nursing homes—delivering better resident outcomes through insider knowledge and dedication.

Over the course of her distinguished career, Jennifer has overseen the operations of skilled nursing facilities, ensuring the highest standards of resident care, regulatory compliance, and staff development. With a deep commitment to enhancing the quality of life for elderly and vulnerable residents, she has expertly managed multidisciplinary teams, implemented innovative care programs, and navigated complex healthcare regulations to foster environments of compassion, safety, and excellence.

Her extensive experience includes budgeting and financial oversight, quality improvement initiatives, and building strong relationships with families, healthcare providers, and community partners. She is known for her strategic vision and hands-on approach and is deeply passionate about advancing senior care, and remains a trusted leader in the field of long-term care administration.

Jennifer currently serves as the Director of Business Development at Accel Specialty Health, where she is pioneering the establishment of an in-house respiratory therapy program to bridge a critical gap in post-hospital care for long-term care residents. This initiative is deeply personal to her, as she has witnessed firsthand the profound improvement in quality of life for her own loved one through participation in the respiratory program. Driven by this experience, her primary goals are to significantly reduce hospital readmissions, elevate resident outcomes, provide facilities with financial improvement, and enhance the overall quality of life for individuals managing acute and chronic respiratory disorders. Through dedicated leadership and innovative care strategies, Jennifer’s goals are to champion accessible, high-quality respiratory support in long-term care settings.

Jonathan Wade, LNHA

Jonathan Wade brings nearly two decades of nursing home leadership experience to Accel Specialty Health, providing an unparalleled understanding of skilled nursing facility operations and reimbursement dynamics. A Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and NC State University graduate, Jonathan has served as Administrator, where he has mastered every aspect of facility management, from maximizing PDPM reimbursement to ensuring exceptional clinical outcomes. 

Jonathan's deep expertise in nursing home operations uniquely positions Accel Specialty Health as the ideal respiratory therapy partner for skilled nursing facilities. He understands firsthand how proper documentation and quality respiratory therapy services directly impact facility reimbursement in Case Mix states, helping partners capture the full value of care delivered while improving resident outcomes.
